What is Aerosol ?

Definition: An aerosol is a suspension system of fine solid or liquid particles in a gas. An aerosol contains both particles and suspended gases, which is usually air. Aerosols can be natural or artificial. Examples of natural aerosols are fog, fume, dust, mist, smoke, etc.

History: During World War I, Frederick G. Donnan first used the term aerosol to describe an aero-solution, clouds of microscopic particles in air.

History: In 1927, a Norwegian chemical engineer, introduced ‘First Aerosol Spray Can’ to the world. Erik Rotheim patented the concept of first aerosol can which contained a valve that could hold & dispense products and propellant systems. This was the base of modern spray can.

The development of aerosol arose during World War II. Then, a small aerosol can which was pressurized by a liquid gas is developed by Lyle Goodhue and William Sullivan. These aerosol cans are filled with insecticides and propellants that was used to protect U.S. servicemen from insects carrying diseases such as malaria.

In 1949, Robert Abplanlp invented the ‘First Aerosol Valve’ results in the birth of the modern aerosol spray can. This enables spraying very easy through the valve of can.

History of Aerosol Spray Paint:
